Her Excellency Mariam Al Hammadi, Director General of The Big Heart Foundation, and Vice Chairperson of the Executive Committee at NAMA Women Advancement
Her Excellency Mariam Al Hammadi, Director General of The Big Heart Foundation (TBHF), has been a cornerstone of one of Sharjah’s most influential humanitarian foundations. She began her career with TBHF in 2012, and through her exceptional leadership in managing and directing humanitarian and development projects in crisis-affected communities, she was appointed as Director of the foundation in 2017 and then as Director General in 2023. Under her visionary leadership, TBHF has made a profound impact, extending its support from Sharjah to communities around the world.
In addition to her role at TBHF, Mariam holds the title of Vice Chairperson of the Executive Committee at NAMA Women Advancement. Her extensive involvement in collaborative projects between TBHF and NAMA over the years has been instrumental in advancing women’s empowerment initiatives. Mariam’s profound belief that empowering women is crucial for strengthening families and communities underscores her dedication. Her work reflects a commitment to fostering transformative change and sustainable development, driven by her passion for improving the socio-economic status of women globally. Mariam was born in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, in 1985. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the Higher Colleges of Technology in 2007.
In 2008, Al Hammadi began her professional career as a Credit Risk Officer at Emirates Airlines, a role she held for four years. She then made a bold decision to transition from the financial sector to the humanitarian and development fields, embarking on a new and
impactful path.
Under Mariam’s leadership, TBHF through its humanitarian projects and initiatives, has supported the journeys of over 5 million people across more than 30 countries worldwide. The Foundation exemplifies the essence of sustainable charitable work, striving for longterm improvement within vulnerable communities. These extensive humanitarian and developmental efforts span hundreds of projects, that focuses on supporting vital sectors including education, healthcare, emergency relief aid, and other critical areas. This comprehensive approach stands as a testament to the Foundation’s unwavering commitment to fostering sustained, impactful development across borders and generations.
